CBC'S ELECTION COVERAGE RAMPS UP: POWER AND POLITICS ADDS NEW SUNDAY PROGRAM FOCUSED ON FEDERAL ELECTION

Vote Compass Goes Live This Sunday, August 30

From Aug. 30 until Oct. 18, POWER AND POLITICS will air an extra program on Sundays that focuses exclusively on the 2015 federal election, providing coverage right up to the night before Election Day. The show will air on both CBC News Network and CBC-TV.

Hosted by Rosemary Barton (@rosiebarton), the Sunday program will offer additional content to complement the existing POWER AND POLITICS program. It will provide an insider’s view of the Canadian political scene during the 2015 federal election, while reflecting the questions and concerns of Canadians and the issues they care about during the election.

A forum where decision-makers answer the questions that matter to Canadians, POWER AND POLITICS has seen a record number of viewers this summer—a 51 per cent increase compared to this time last year. (*Source: Numeris)

POWER AND POLITICS currently airs Monday to Friday at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT, 5:30 p.m. NT) on CBC News Network. The new program will air on Sundays at 10 a.m. ET (7 a.m. PT, 10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC News Network and 11 a.m. ET in every time zone on CBC-TV.

Fans can engage with POWER AND POLITICS through the @PnPCBC Twitter account, as well the CBC Politics Facebook page and the CBC Politics page.

Also beginning this Sunday, CBC News’s popular online tool Vote Compass will be available at cbcnews.ca/votecompass. Vote Compass is an online tool that helps Canadians explore how they fit into Canada’s political landscape and discover their proximity to where political parties stand on the issues.

During its inaugural five-week run spanning the 2011 Canadian federal election campaign, Vote Compass was used by nearly 2 million Canadians.
