CBC/Radio-Canada to Provide Broadcast and Streaming Coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, July 23–August 2
Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) today announced that CBC/Radio-Canada will be the exclusive broadcast and streaming home in Canada for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, taking place from Thursday, July 23 to Sunday, August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland.

CBC Announces Two New Documentary Funds and Additional Support for Filmmakers at all Career Stages
CBC, Canada’s largest commissioner of documentaries, announced more details about its $7 million increased investment in documentary storytelling. In addition to supporting more feature-length documentaries, CBC will create two new documentary funds and boost the Absolutely Canadian documentary strand.

National public broadcasters CBC, ABC and the BBC today announced that they are joining forces to bring back the beloved audio short-form documentary series Short Cuts as a podcast and radio series, with the original host, British comedian Josie Long, and produced by the creators of the series, U.K. radio production company Falling Tree Productions.

CEBL and CBC Sports release 2026 Season Broadcast and Streaming Schedule
Beginning May 9, CBC Sports will live stream every game of the 2026 CEBL season on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca and CBC Sports YouTube channel. In a survey measuring Canadians’ perceptions of CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, three quarters of respondents agreed (6–10 on a 10-point scale) that Canada’s Olympic Network provided high-quality coverage of the Games and that the coverage contributed to a shared sense of identity among Canadians.
