APTN, CBC and Netflix announced that the global hit Arctic-set comedy series NORTH OF NORTH (8x30) will include Canadian actor and comedian Bruce McCulloch. McCulloch will guest star as Military Mitch, an instructor who is hired to teach first-aid at the Ice Cove Community Centre. McCulloch is best known for his work as a member of the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall, including starring in the TV series of the same name. Season 2 will premiere in Canada on APTN+ beginning Tuesday, September 1, followed by CBC Gem, CBC TV and APTN TV on Tuesday, September 8. After its world premiere in Canada, NORTH OF NORTH will then launch globally on Netflix in the Fall of 2026.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, director, documentarian and Inuk activist Elisapie is also set to guest star in the sophomore season. Her appearance will coincide with the debut of a new song slated to be featured in the new season.
Season 2 sees young Inuk mother Siaja (Anna Lambe) still determined to make life better for herself and everyone around her as winter closes in on Ice Cove. This season she learns that while you can blow up your life on an impulse, building the one you want takes a little more planning and a lot more hustle. Guided by ᐱᓕᒻᒪᒃᓴᕐᓂᖅ Pilimmaksarniq—the Inuktitut concept of mastering skills through observation, practice and effort—Siaja is ready to put in the work. The hardest part? Proving to her tight-knit Arctic community, and herself, that she’s ready to take charge.
Filmed in Iqaluit, Nunavut and Toronto, NORTH OF NORTH is created, executive produced and written by writer and producer Stacey Aglok MacDonald (Qanurli, The Grizzlies) and filmmaker Alethea Arnaquq-Baril (Angry Inuk, The Grizzlies) of Red Marrow Media and executive produced by Miranda de Pencier of Northwood Entertainment (Anne with an E, Beginners, The Grizzlies). Anna Lambe reprises her starring role as Siaja, alongside Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Simmonds and Keira Cooper. Additionally, Season 2 will feature special cameo appearances by prominent content creators including Ashley Callingbull, Braden Kadlun, Chelazon Leroux, Kairyn Potts, Kayuula Nova, Shina Nova and Scott Wabano.
Having captivated audiences and critics worldwide when it first premiered in Canada on APTN and CBC in January 2025 and then globally on Netflix in April 2025, NORTH OF NORTH recently took home nine wins at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards, the most of any comedy, including Best Comedy Series, Best Lead Performer for Anna Lambe, Best Supporting Performer for Maika Harper, Best Direction and Best Writing, Best Ensemble Performance, and Best Guest Performance for Tanya Tagaq.
