TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR THE 2015 CBC MASSEY LECTURES BY ACCLAIMED HISTORIAN MARGARET MACMILLAN

The 2015 CBC Massey Lectures - History’s People: Personalities and the Past - will air on CBC Radio One’s Ideas from November 2 to November 6 at 9 p.m.   (9:30 NT)

In this year’s CBC Massey Lectures, History’s People: Personalities and the Past, internationally acclaimed historian Margaret MacMillan   looks at some of the people - good and bad, explorers and adventurers - who have shaped their times and ours. How would our world be different if Napoleon   had never existed? Would we think differently without Mohammed or Luther? MacMillan will turn the spotlight on the women and men - some famous, others   little-known - who have intrigued, horrified or engaged her.

The CBC Massey Lectures are recorded in front of a live audience each autumn in five cities across Canada and broadcast on IDEAS, CBC Radio One’s program   of contemporary thought. The show’s content is wide-ranging and explores how ideas shape every aspect of our lives.

Beginning September 23 in Fredericton, NB, Margaret MacMillan will present the individual lectures in five cities across Canada; after Fredericton, the   lectures will also travel to St. John’s, Victoria, Calgary and Toronto. History’s People: Personalities and the Past will air on CBC Radio One’s Ideas   November 2-6, 2015 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT). Tickets for the lecture series are now on sale (information below).

MacMillan is the author of the international bestsellers The War that Ended Peace, Nixon in China and Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World, which   won the Governor General’s Literary Award and the Samuel Johnson Prize. She also wrote The Uses and Abuses of History. The past provost of Trinity College   at the University of Toronto, she is now the warden of St. Antony’s College, Oxford, where she teaches international history. She is also professor of   history at the University of Toronto.

The book version of History’s People: Personalities and the Past will be released by House of Anansi on September 12, 2015.
