CBC'S CANADA'S SMARTEST PERSON ANNOUNCES BRADEN LAUER OF VANCOUVER, BC AS THIS WEEK'S WINNER

This week’s winner on CBC’s competition series CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON is 22-year-old law student Braden Lauer of Vancouver, BC. He is the final participant who will go onto compete in the epic two-hour season finale on Sunday, November 23 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), where one competitor will be crowned CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

Lauer, is a second year law student at the University of British Columbia. He describes himself as “Einstein meets Sherlock Holmes” and is determined to leave a mark on society equal to the contributions of his idols. He is a stand-out scholar, being the recipient of five different scholarships and has yet to finance a penny towards his education. Currently, he acts as the director of finance for the UBC Law Student’s Society and volunteers at Pro Bono Students Canada, an organization that provides free legal advice to those who aren’t able to afford an attorney. In his free time, he is an avid tarot card reader and attributes his strong intuition to helping guide his readings.

Lauer will join poet Johnny MacRae of North Vancouver, orthopedic surgery resident Darryl Dillman of Cole Harbour, NS, fighter-pilot Max Cameron of Calgary, AB, magazine editor Victoria Leenders-Cheng of Montreal, QC, copywriter Mith Das of Toronto, ON, firefighter Chris Tessaro of Mississauga, ON and Albert Tam of Woodbridge, ON in the final face-off as they battle it out in the season finale to take home the title of CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

The top cities are Waterloo, ON with average score of 77.6 points, Georgetown, ON with 73.4 points and Tignish, PEI with 72.5 points.

In the battle of the ages youths 2 to 17 years-old are tied with 18 to 49 years-old averaging 57.6 points across the evening challenges with 50 years and over close behind with 46.5 points.

Between the genders, males come out on top tonight with an average of 57.2 points and females follow with an average 55.8 points.

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, keep interacting live with the show as you can determine the final leader board standings while also potentially seeing your name on the broadcast as you show us how you are smart.

In between broadcast dates, Canadians can challenge their friends, family and co-workers to new challenges daily through the Canada’s Smartest Person App. Keep challenging yourself and watch as your intelligence profile develops.
