CBC'S CANADA'S SMARTEST PERSON ANNOUNCES VICTORIA LEENDERS-CHENG OF MONTREAL, QC AS THIS WEEK'S WINNER

This week’s winner on CBC’s competition series CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON is 33-year-old magazine editor Victoria Leenders-Cheng, of Montreal, QC.

Leenders-Cheng is a ‘jill of all trades’ as a busy mother of two, a full-time editor of McGill Law School’s Alumni magazine, a classically trained musician, and an accomplished athlete. Her wide range of abilities is what made her a top threat this week as she wins a spot in the CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON season finale.

Leenders-Cheng will join copywriter Mith Das of Toronto, ON, firefighter Chris Tessaro of Mississauga, ON and Albert Tam of Woodbridge, ON in the series finale later this fall as they battle it out to take home the title of CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

Tune in on Sunday, October 26 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) as a fighter pilot, a musician, a doctor and a PhD student compete in six revealing intelligence challenges that go beyond the average IQ test or trivia quiz. Plus, there will be a special guest appearance by Bonnie Brooks, vice chairman of Hudson’s Bay Company.

Max Cameron, a 31-year-old fighter pilot from Calgary, AB

Cat Jahnke, a 33-year-old musician from Winnipeg, MB

Kaveh Kavoosi, a 27-year-old doctor from Aurora, ON

Jennifer Hurd, a 21-year-old doctorate student from Ottawa, ON

Each week, hosts Jessi Cruickshank (@jessi) and Jeff Douglas (@IAmJeffDouglas) guide viewers through the hour-long competition series, as four new hopefuls battle it out in front of a live studio audience. Each participant must demonstrate their competency in the categories of linguistic, physical, musical, visual, social and logical intelligence in order the claim the title of CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

This week, St. John’s, NFLD comes out on top with the highest average score across the evening challenges averaging 78 overall, followed by Elmira and Alliston, ON who tied for second place with an average score of 77 and Carleton, ON and Hammonds Plains, NS in third with an average of 74.

Taking the lead for average score across the ages are 18 to 49 year olds with an average of 55, followed by youth (18 and under) at 48 and 50 and over close behind averaging 49 for tonight’s challenges.

This week’s data shows that 18 years old and younger are more visually intelligent; whereas 18 to 49 years old are stronger in physical intelligence and those fifty and over dominant in logically intelligence.

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, keep interacting live with the show as you can determine the final leader board standings while also potentially seeing your name on the broadcast as you show us how you are smart.
