CBC'S CANADA'S SMARTEST PERSON ANNOUNCES COPYWRITER MITH DAS OF TORONTO, ON AS THIS WEEK'S WINNER

This week’s winner on CBC’s ground-breaking competition series CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON is 29-year-old copywriter Mith Das (@TheManTheMith), of Toronto, ON.

Mith Das describes himself as a “geeky guy with a creative side”, which is evident from his diverse background of interests. The former competitive figure skater, grew up thinking he would pursue a career in the sciences, but his creative side took over when he decided to leave his research job in a neurophysiology lab and try a more creative career in advertising, where he currently works today.

Das will join firefighter Chris Tessaro of Mississauga, ON and Albert Tam of Woodbridge, ON in the series finale later this fall as they battle it out to take home the title of CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

Tune in on Sunday, October 19 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) as an entrepreneur, teacher, ayurvedic cleaner and a magazine editor compete in six revealing intelligence challenges that go beyond the average IQ test or trivia quiz. Plus, there will be a special guest appearance by world-renowned choreographer to the stars Sean Cheesman.

Yahaya Baruwa, a 26-year-old author and entrepreneur from Toronto, ON
George Millar, a 71-year-old teacher from Edmonton, AB
Mary Rose, a 39-year-old ayurvedic cleaner from Victoria, BC
Victoria Leenders-Cheng, a 33-year-old magazine editor from Montreal, QC

Each week, hosts Jessi Cruickshank (@jessi) and Jeff Douglas (@IAmJeffDouglas) guide viewers through the hour-long competition series, as four new hopefuls battle it out in front of a live studio audience. Each participant must demonstrate their competency in the categories of linguistic, physical, musical, visual, social and logical intelligence in order the claim the title of CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON.

At the time of issuing, Canadians engaging with the CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON app, brought to you in part by SUBWAY® Restaurants, live with the show revealed:

Tonight, Midland, ON was the highest scoring city during the Atlantic and Eastern broadcasts, with an average score of 78 percent over tonight’s challenges. Following close behind is Ancaster, ON with 76 percent and Summerside, P.E.I. with 70 percent.

Men hold the leading with an average score of 38 for tonight’s challenge with women just a few points behind averaging 34.

When it comes to the battle of the ages, it’s a tie between youths (under 18 years old) and adults (18 years and over) averaging 38 while those over 50 followed with 21.

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, keep interacting live with the show as you can determine the final leader board standings while also potentially seeing your name on the broadcast as you show us how you are smart.

In between broadcast dates, Canadians can challenge their friends, family and co-workers to new challenges daily through the Canada’s Smartest Person App. Keep challenging yourself and watch as your intelligence profile develops.
