AWARD-WINNING WEB SERIES RUBY SKYE P.I.: THE MALTESE PUPPY LAUNCHES ON KIDS' CBC JULY 12

The third installment of the hit web series RUBY SKYE P.I: THE MALTESE PUPPY will be available

Starting Saturday, July 12, Kids’ CBC will be the go-to destination for amateur sleuths and dog lovers alike as the third season of the acclaimed RUBY SKYE P.I. franchise rolls out online at cbc.ca/kids/rubyskyepi.

Season three sees the intrepid teen detective Ruby Skye (Madison Cheeatow) solve the case of The Maltese Puppy. In her dogged pursuit of the perpetrators of a toy robbery, Ruby gets herself into lots of hot water en route to a cool solution. Meanwhile, Ruby’s on-again-off-again boyfriend Edmund (Scott Beaudin) and her sister Hailey Skye (Marlee Maslove) are plotting something behind Ruby’s back, giving her yet another mystery to solve. Although Ruby continues to be at odds with rival Diana Noughton (Elena Gorgevska), she is moved to help out when she discovers that Diana is being bullied. But most importantly, who owns that adorable fluffy white puppy Hailey insists on calling Pixel. . .and why aren’t they looking for her?

“At Kids’ CBC, we really love content that is interactive and that inspires and empowers our viewers and end users,” says Kim Wilson, creative head of CBC Children’s & Youth Programming. “Ruby Skye P.I. is a great program for us because it fits our strategy, and also because it’s a clever, entertaining series that runs across platforms that we know Canadian kids will love.”

The web series, written by Jill Golick and Julie Strassman, plays out in 11 funny and mysterious chapters, each ending in an exciting cliff hanger. Guest-starring comedians Sean Cullen (Just for Laughs) and Hannah Spear (Versus Valerie), and directed by Kelly Harms, the series stays true to its unique formula of comedy-infused mystery.

Complementing the 11-week web series roll-out, Kids CBC will broadcast five one-minute episodes of Ruby Skye’s How to Be a P.I., which provides insider tips and tricks for aspiring detectives. Fans of the series can study all the clues in Ruby’s case file on cbc.ca/kids/rubyskyepi. They can also explore the Ruby Skye P.I. story world on multiple stand-alone websites and social media platforms, including fun and challenging games such as Pixel Fetch and Detective Bingo.

Since 2010, RUBY SKYE P.I. has been entertaining online audiences as the web’s best-loved teen detective show. Created by Showrunner Jill Golick, RUBY SKYE P.I. has won multiple international awards for its trans-media storytelling and ground-breaking interactivity, including a Canadian Screen Award, a Banff Rockie, a Parent’s Choice Silver Honour, a Youth Media Alliance Award of Excellence, two Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards, the New York Television Festival’s Best Family Pilot and the 2013 LAWebFest-MarseillesWebFest Grand Jury Prize. With more than 2.5 million video views and legions of dedicated fans, RUBY SKYE P.I. caught the attention of Kids’ CBC, which acquired the Canadian rights to the first two seasons and commissioned Season three.

“After incubating a truly multi-platform series independently for the last two seasons, it has been a delight to partner with CBC.” says Golick. “We’ve been able to create our funniest, most baffling season yet. And we can’t wait to share it with CBC’s audience.”

RUBY SKYE P.I.: THE MALTESE PUPPY & RUBY SKYE’S HOW TO BE A P.I. and the associated Ruby Skye interactive games and world-building websites are produced by Jill Golick and Janice Dawe of Story 2.OH in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, with the financial participation of the Independent Production Fund, Shaw Rocket Fund, Bell Fund, Canada Media Fund, the Ontario Film & Television Tax Credit and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.
