CBC/RADIO-CANADA SURPASS 1 MILLION DOWNLOADS OF ITS 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL™ APPS

Canadians continue to consume CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ online and on-the-go by taking advantage of the network’s robust digital offerings for the tournament. So far, the free English-language CBC FIFA World Cup™ App brought to you by Bell and its French-language counterpart for iOS and Android have been downloaded more than 1 million times combined.

The app provides users with live streaming coverage of each match including six live feeds allowing the viewer to select the angle from which they want to watch. Other features include near-live highlights, and multiple social media feeds allowing users to share clips, photos and news along with their own thoughts through Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

Since the tournament began, Canadian fans have spent more than 10 million hours watching CBC/Radio-Canada’s FIFA World Cup™ video content across all digital platforms.

 
To date, more than 30 million Canadians have tuned in to watch FIFA World Cup™ coverage on CBC/Radio-Canada overall, including more than 5.8 million people (or one-in-six Canadians) watching live game coverage on a digital platform.
