CBC, CBCSPORTS.CA AND SPORTSNET ONE TO PROVIDE DAILY LIVE COVERAGE OF THE CALGARY STAMPEDE PRESENTED BY GMC

Coverage begins July 4th with the Calgary Stampede Parade at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) on CBCSports.ca
 
The Calgary Stampede presented by GMC returns with more intense, foot-stomping, heart-pounding action beginning next week on CBC-TV, CBCSports.ca and Sportsnet ONE with live coverage every day throughout the 10-day event known as the greatest outdoor show on earth. The Calgary Stampede presented by GMC is the world’s richest tournament-style rodeo, featuring top-ranked cowboys and cowgirls vying for more than $2 million in prizes and the thrilling GMC Rangeland Derby, including 36 chuckwagons and 216 horses competing for the more than $1.15 million purse.
 
CBC and Sportsnet ONE will have coverage of all of the exciting events that make up The Calgary Stampede presented by GMC, including the Calgary Stampede Parade with Grand Marshal William Shatner on July 4th and Championship Weekend featuring Wild Card Saturday andShowdown Sunday on July 12th and 13th, respectively. Daily coverage will also include rangeland derby (chuckwagon) and rodeo action on CBCSports.ca and Sportsnet, as well as a nightly wrap-up show on CBC-TV.
 
CBC News Network’s Heather Hiscox (@cbchh) and CBC Calgary’s Doug Dirks (@cbcDougDirks) will host the Stampede Parade broadcast on Friday, July 4th live at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) on CBCSports.caand City in Calgary. City’s Tara Slone will join the broadcast team as a reporter along the parade route. The Parade will be re-broadcast on Saturday, July 5th at 9:30 a.m. ET (6:30 a.m. PT) on CBC-TV. Ron MacLean will return as host of CBC’s weekend coverage from the Stampede grounds including Saturday, July 5th, Wildcard Saturday (July 12th) and Showdown Sunday (July 13th). In addition to event coverage, MacLean will present insightful features about the people in and around the Stampede. Legendary rodeo announcer Bob Tallman will also join MacLean to provided added analysis and commentary.
 
Throughout the week of July 7th-11th, Scott Oake (@ScottOake) will host daily coverage from Calgary as well as the nightly chuckwagon races and will be joined by four-time Calgary Stampede champion Tom Glass and chuckwagon expert Billy Melville (@billymelville) as analysts, with CBC’s Kristina Barnes (@CBCKristina) reporting. Mark Lee (@MLeeCBC) will provide play-by-play for rodeo events alongside Canadian Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame inductee Cody Snyder (@SnyderCody) and veteran rodeo commentator and former saddle bronc rider Butch Knowles. Retired Olympian and current barrel racer Mellisa Hollingsworth (@Mehollingsworth) will provide barrel racing analysis in addition to hosting special profile features.
 
Continuing the 25-year tradition, the annual CBC Calgary Stampede Breakfast sponsored by Co-op will take place on Thursday, July 3rd from 7-9 a.m. MT at the CBC Calgary broadcast centre at 1724 Westmount Blvd. NW. Fans are welcome to enjoy some pancakes and special gluten-free breakfast options with CBC Calgary on-air personalities and a live radio broadcast of the Calgary Eyeopener. Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk, the 2014 CBC Searchlight winner, will provide additional entertainment.
