As announced by Wheelchair Basketball Canada earlier today, CBC has partnered with the association to provide live streaming coverage of the upcoming 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship at
<a data-cke-saved-href="http://www.cbcsports.ca/ target=" href="http://www.cbcsports.ca/ target=" _blank"="">Rob Snoek (@RobSnoekLIVE) will handle play-by-play duties throughout the tournament alongside analysts Tim Frick (@CoachFrick) and Marni Abbott-Peter. A veteran sports broadcaster, Snoek has covered seven Paralympic Games and five Olympic Games among other major sports competitions and was recently a member of CBC’s broadcast team for both the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Frick coached the Canadian women’s wheelchair basketball team from 1990-2009, during which time he led the team to a 15-year undefeated streak in international competition, including a record three consecutive Paralympic gold medals and four consecutive World Championship titles.Abbott-Peter is a four-time World Champion and a three-time Paralympic gold medallist.
This year’s International Wheelchair Basketball Federation tournament is hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre and will be the largest event of its kind with 12 competing countries representing three international zones. This year’s event also represents the first time in 20 years that the women’s competition will be held separately from the men’s.
