These family -friendly events feature games, activities and live match broadcasts from 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ in cities across Canada every weekend throughout the tournament
CBC/Radio-Canada is the official broadcaster of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ from June 12-July 13 and to help celebrate the beautiful game with Canadians in their own backyards, the network has teamed up with CIBC for a seven-city viewing tour called CIBC Soccer Nation.
Every weekend during the month-long soccer tournament, CBC and CIBC will host a family-friendly festival in one city where soccer fans of all ages will be invited to take part in fun-filled activities and of course watch that day’s marquee match-up from Brazil. In addition to watching a live match on a large outdoor screen, fans in attendance at these free events can show their soccer spirit by joining in the celebration with activities like face painting, photo booths, video games and more. These CIBC Soccer Nation events are made possible with additional support from adidas.
Fans unable to attend the CIBC Soccer Nation event in their area can still join in the fun by following @cbcsports on Twitter and using #CIBCSoccerNation to share how they are celebrating the FIFA World Cup™.
The CIBC Soccer Nation tour begins Saturday, June 14 at Vancouver’s Victoria Park and will continue with stops in Edmonton (June 21), Calgary (June 22), Regina (June 24), Montreal (June 28), Ottawa (July 5). The tour concludes in Toronto with a two-day celebration on July 12 and 13 featuring unique activations from broadcast partners including the Labatt-hosted Budweiser Beer Garden. More details about the timing and location of each event will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans can visit cbcsports.ca/soccernation for details about events in their area.
