KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE AND SCOTIABANK HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA RECOGNIZED AT THE 10TH ANNUAL SPONSORSHIP MARKETING AWARDS

Kraft Hockeyville honoured with the inaugural Hall of Fame Award

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada received Gold in Sports category

Kraft Hockeyville and Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada were recipients of prestigious honours at the Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada’s (SMCC) 10th annual Sponsorship Marketing Awards (SMA) in Toronto on April 29.

Kraft Hockeyville, a nine time winner of the SMA’s, was one of the recipients of the inaugural Hall of Fame award recognizing outstanding success in a sponsorship marketing program. Eligible candidates were required to have previously won three or more Gold and/or Best of Show Awards at the SMAs. Purolator Inc. was also recognized with a Hall of Fame Award at the event.

For eight years, Kraft Hockeyville has been an innovative cross platform program that has brought hockey back to its roots. CBC, along with its partners, Kraft, NHL, and the NHLPA, have been conducting an annual nationwide search to find the most passionate hockey communities in Canada. From coast to coast, Kraft Hockeyville has awarded funds to update local arenas where communities rally together to enjoy hockey at all levels.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, a two time winner of the SMA’s also received high praise, taking home Gold in the Sports category. Originally created in 2001 as a way of enabling Canadians to celebrate their love of hockey on one National day, Hockey Day in Canada is now entering its 15th year. 2014 marked Scotiabank’s fourth year as title sponsor. The event, which brings together NHL and Olympic athletes, the Stanley Cup and five days of hockey celebrations to the host community, is held in a different Canadian city each year.
