Canada took home silver in the Team Figure Skating event on Sunday, following strong performances in the Men’s, Ladies’ and Ice Dance Free programs. It was another full day of competition in Sochi with eight medal events taking place in total.

TEAM FIGURE SKATING: MEN’S FREE, LADIES’ FREE AND FREE ICE DANCE PROGRAMS
•The first ever Olympic Team Figure Skating event wrapped up today with the Men’s Free, Ladies’ Free and Ice Dance Free programs. Canada captured the silver medal thanks to strong performances by Kevin Reynolds and the duo of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Russia took the gold medal and the United States captured the bronze.
ALPINE SKIING: MEN’S DOWNHILL FINAL
•Canada’s medal hopeful, Erik Guay, finishes in 10th place, Ben Thomsen in 19th place and Jan Hudec and Manny Osborne-Paradis finishes 21st and 25th respectively. The 20-year drought for an Olympic medal continues in this event. Austria’s Matthias Mayer won gold, the silver medal went to Italy’s Christof Innerhofer while Kjetil Jansrud of Norway took home the bronze.
LUGE: MEN’S SINGLES FINAL RUN
•Sam Edney led the way for Canada, finishing 11th with teammates Mitchel Malyk and John Fennell placing 26th and 27th, respectively. Felix Loch of Germany won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal while Russia’s Albert Demchenko won silver. Italy’s Armin Zöggeler pushed his streak of consecutive Olympics with a medal in the men’s singles with a bronze medal win.
SNOWBOARD: LADIES’ SLOPESTYLE FINAL
•Canada’s 2013 Ladies’ Snowboard Slopestyle World Champion Spencer O’Brien fails to reach the podium in the historic first Ladies’ Snowboard Slopestyle and finishes in 12th place. American Jamie Anderson won the gold medal, Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi took the silver and Jenny Jones of Great Britain won bronze.
CROSS-COUNTRY: MEN’S SKIATHLON FINAL - 15km CLASSIC AND 15km FREE
•Canada’s Alex Harvey finishes 18th and Ivan Babikov finishes 25th. The gold medal went to Switzerland’s Dario Cologna while Marcus Hellner of Sweden won silver and Norway’s Martin Johnsrud Sundby captured the bronze.
SPEEDSKATING: LADIES’ - 3000m FINAL
•Canada’s Brittany Schussler finishes 20th and Ivanie Blondin finishes 25th. Dutch legend Ireen Wust captured her second career gold medal while defending Olympic Champion, Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic, captured the silver and Russia’s Olga Graf won bronze.
BIATHLON: WOMEN’S - 7.5km SPRINT FINAL
•Canada’s Rosanna Crawford finished 25th while teammates, Megan Imrie and Zina Kocher placed 31st and 32nd, respectivley. The gold medal went to Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina, Olga Vilukhina of Russia won silver and Ukraine’s Vita Semerenko captured the bronze.
SKI JUMPING: MEN’S INDIVIDUAL HILL
•Canadians Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes and Dusty Korek did not qualify for the final round after qualifying for the first round on Sunday. Poland’s Kamil Stoch won gold while Peter Prevc of Slovakia won bronze and Anders Bardal of Norway took the bronze.
