It’s a big day on the podium for Canada in the first day of competition at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games as Canada wins its first three medals. Justine Dufour-Lapointe wins Canada’s first gold in Freestyle Skiing: Ladies’ Moguls, while sister Chloé takes home the silver. In Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle, Mark McMorris wins Canada’s first bronze, making it a fast start to the Olympic Winter Games for Team Canada.
 
TONIGHT ON OLYMPIC PRIMETIME (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on CBC-TV):
Join host Ron MacLean tonight, following the conclusion of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada’s broadcast, as he connects viewers to the best moments from the day’s action, including the Ladies’ Moguls and Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle gold medal events, and Team Figure Skating. Olympic legend Clara Hughes will also drop by to share her thoughts on an exciting and entertaining Day One of action from Sochi.

FREESTYLE SKIING: LADIES’ MOGULS FINALS
Canadian sisters Justine and Chloé Dufour-Lapointe finish first and second, respectively, in Ladies’ Moguls.
Justine won gold with a score of 22.44, while Chloé captured silver with a run of 21.66.
Hannah Kearney of the USA, the defending gold medallist, finishes third.
 
SNOWBOARD: MEN’S SNOWBOARD SLOPESTYLE MEDAL ROUND
Mark McMorris claims Canada’s first bronze of the Olympic Winter Games in Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle.
Canadians Maxence Parrot finishes in fifth and Sebastien Toutant in ninth.
 
FIGURE SKATING: LADIES AND ICE DANCE SHORT PROGRAMS
Canada qualifies for the next round of the Figure Skating Team event by finishing second (32 points) behind Russia (37 points) and ahead of the USA (27 points).
The competition continues tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 9) at 10 a.m. ET on CBC-TV.
 
WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY: QUALIFYING ROUND
Canada’s Women’s Ice Hockey team defeats Switzerland 5-0 in its first game of the tournament.
Goalie Charline Labonte posts the shutout.
The team is looking to claim their fourth consecutive Olympic Winter gold medal in Women’s Ice Hockey.
Canada’s next game is against Finland on Monday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. ET (CBC-TV)
