CBC HAS EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE OF THE 154TH RUNNING OF THE QUEEN'S PLATE, THIS SUNDAY

The 154th edition of the single greatest horse race and show on Canadian soil goes this weekend live on CBC with the Queen’s Plate, running this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT) from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. The Queen’s Plate is the longest continually run stakes race in North America and the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Live coverage is also available online at CBCSports.ca.

Known as the ‘gallop for the guineas’ the Queen’s Plate is Canada’s most prestigious horse race and features a $1 million purse, with $600,000 going to the winner. The race features three-year-olds foaled in Canada competing on the one-and-a-quarter-mile track.

In addition to live streaming coverage of the Queen’s Plate, CBCSports.ca has a second interactive video player giving fans additional viewpoints from the racetrack leading up to and during the race. Prior to the start, the interactive camera shows different angles around the racetrack offering fans a unique perspective on the pre-race atmosphere. Once the horses head to the gates, the interactive camera splits into four sections featuring isolated shots of two horses, a wide shot of the race and a rail camera, all in a single live video player.

Viewers can connect with CBC’s coverage leading up to and throughout the Queen’s Plate online at CBCSports.ca featuring a live Queen’s Plate blog, on Twitter (@CBCSports) using #QP2013 and on Facebook (facebook.com/cbcsports).
