I AM NOT A ROCK STAR - World Television Premiere
Tuesday, July 9, 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT
The sacrifice of self, the acclaim, the adoring crowds. . . classical pianist Marika Bournaki fits the role. But the title of Bobbi Jo Hart’s award-winning biographical documentary, I AM NOT A ROCK STAR, speaks to the contradictions of Bournaki’s life. Shot over a span of eight years - following the pianist from 12 to 20 years of age - Hart’s film amounts to a front row seat in the unfolding of a life and the forming of a personality. Shot in verité style in concert halls, hotels and airports around the world and featuring stunning piano performances, the film turns Bournaki’s life into a visual narrative, revealing both the rewards and costs of a life dedicated to music.

MONTREAL SYMPHONY
Tuesday, July 9, 10 p.m. ET
To mark the 75th season of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, conductor Kent Nagano put together a memorable program comprised of a selection of extraordinary works. This film captures the season’s high points, as well as Nagano’s knack for finding music and poetry in everyday urban life.

ALONE UP THERE
Monday, July 15, 10 p.m. ET
ALONE UP THERE explores the contemporary culture of stand-up comedy with a focus on the performer. Using interviews with several professional comedians and experts including Mike MacDonald, Marc Maroon, Ron James, Jeremy Hotz, Mark Breslin, Moshe Kasher, Eddie Pepitone and Rick Overton, ALONE UP THERE asks the questions: “What kind of person can do stand-up? And what kind of person would want to?”

LOST RIVERS - English Television Premiere
Wednesday, July 17, 7 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT
Once upon a time, in almost every industrial city, countless rivers flowed. Our roads hugged their curves, and their currents fed our mills and factories. But as cities grew, we polluted rivers so much that they became conduits for deadly waterborne diseases like cholera. Our solution two centuries ago was to bury rivers underground and merge them with sewer networks. Today, under the city, they still flow, out of sight and out of mind . . . until now. LOST RIVERS takes us on an adventure down below and across the globe, retracing the history of these lost urban rivers by plunging into archival maps and going underground with clandestine urban explorers. We search for the disappeared Petite rivière St-Pierre in Montreal, the Garrison Creek in Toronto, the River Tyburn in London, the Saw Mill River in New York, and the Bova-Celato River in Bresica, Italy.

INSIDE JOB - OSCAR® Award Winner
Sunday, July 21, 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT
2010 OSCAR® winner for Best Documentary, INSIDE JOB provides a comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008, which, at a cost of over $20 trillion, caused millions of people to lose their jobs and homes in the worst recession since the Great Depression, and nearly resulted in a global financial collapse.

HELLBOUND
Tuesday, July 23, 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT
For many people, belief in hell as a place of eternal torment for the wicked is an indisputable tenet of Christian orthodoxy. In their view, rejecting or modifying this belief is tantamount to rejecting Christianity itself. But a growing number of believers disagree. They argue that we can have a loving God or we can have eternal hell, but we can’t have both. HELLBOUND is a provocative, critically acclaimed documentary that wades right into the centre of this debate.
