CBCMUSIC.CA AND VOLKSWAGEN HIT THE ROAD WITH THE BEETLE ROAD TRIP SESSIONS

CBC Radio 3 host Grant Lawrence takes to the open road to catch up with great Canadian musical talent across the country in a brand new 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Fender® Edition

CBCMusic.ca and Volkswagen, in collaboration with MediaCom and Red Urban, have teamed up to create the ultimate Canadian music road trip with THE BEETLE ROAD TRIP SESSIONS. Kicking off May 22 in Vancouver and continuing to June 12, CBC Radio 3 host Grant Lawrence gets behind the wheel of a brand new 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Fender® Edition to travel from Vancouver to Toronto, interviewing and recording performances by great Canadian bands along the way.

“CBCMusic.cais excited to be along for the ride with Volkswagen,” said Chris Boyce, executive director, CBC radio and audio. “This newly forged partnership gives CBCMusic.ca the opportunity to expose great Canadian talent and interact with music lovers from across the country in new and unique ways.”

Listeners can follow Grant’s journey online at CBCMusic.ca, where allinterviews and performances will be available free and on-demand. Each week, a best-of highlight reel featuring memorable moments from the trip will be featured exclusively on GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS TONIGHT on CBC-TV. During Grant’s thoroughly rockin’ road trip, Canadians will have a chance to meet Grant for brunch in select cities along the way, and have a chance to win a Fender® guitar signed by every band and artist that crosses Grant’s path.

This is a great example of great brands working together. First, The Beetle Fender® Edition, with a sound system custom designed by Fender® and a dash console reminiscent of the classic Fender Sunburst design, is an exciting combination of two pop cultural icons. On top of that, The Beetle is an excellent fit for this partnership with the CBC. We’re very excited to be a part of The Beetle Road Trip Sessions, and very happy to be working with the CBC,” said Lynne Piette, Brand Manager at Volkswagen Canada.
