Today marks the official one-year countdown to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and CBC is excited to bring the Olympic Games home to Canadians. The countdown to the Sochi 2014 is in full-swing this week on CBC, with extensive programming on all platforms. Throughout the week, viewers have enjoyed extensive coverage, with stories from Sochi and beyond, as well as a look at Canada’s Olympians as they prepare for the Games.

• RADIO ONE: IDEAS - The Games of Olympia takes a look at the very first Olympic Games held more than 2,500 years ago in Ancient Greece. This IDEAS classic from 1988 by historian and classicist Brent Shaw takes listeners through the five-day festival of sporting events and religious ceremonies held in Olympia, a small town in Southwestern Greece. The Games of Olympia airs tonight at 9/9:30 pm NT.
• CBCMUSIC.CA - Continuing the Olympic theme of the day, CBCMusic.ca takes a look at The Music of Sochi.
• CBC.ca/Olympics - Canadians can chat live with two-time Olympic gold medalist and 2010 Vancouver Games MVP Meghan Agosta tonight at 7 pm ET. CBC.ca/olympics also features a look at how Russia has changed since 1980.
• CBC SPORTS WEEKEND - on Saturday, February 16, the program brings Canadians Championship Freestyle Skiing (3 pm ET) - an Olympic test event from Sochi, followed later that day by alpine skiing and the World Championships from Schladming, Austria where the Canadian Alpine Ski Team will look to continue their winning tradition.
