CBC presents exclusive coverage   of the single greatest horse race and show on Canadian soil with the   153rd running of the Queen’s Plate from Woodbine   Racetrack in Toronto on Sunday, June 24. The Queen’s Plate is the longest   continually run stakes race in North America and the first jewel in Canada’s   Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Action gets underway live on CBC-TV and   online at cbcsports.ca at 4:30 p.m.  ET.

Scott Russell (@SportsWkndScott) takes the   reins as host of the 153rd Queen’s Plate on CBC alongside Gemini   Award-winning racing analyst Jim Bannon. Renee Kierens provides pre- and   post-race reports on horseback including an interview with the winning jockey.  Also providing reports during the broadcast are Elliotte Friedman (@friedgeHNIC), Brenda Irving (@Sportswkndbrend) and Canadian   jockey legend Sandy Hawley adding insight and analysis. Woodbine track announcer   Dan Loiselle is back to call the race for a 26th consecutive   year.

Known as the ‘Gallop for the   Guineas’ the Queen’s Plate is Canada’s most prestigious horse   race. The race features three-year-olds foaled in Canada competing on the 1 1/4   mile track for the $1 million purse, with $600,000 going to the winner. In just   his third career start, 21-1 longshot River Rush won the 1 1/8 mile Plate Trial   Stakes at Woodbine on June 3 in track record time of 1:48.97. Three of the last   four Plate Trial winners have gone on to win the Queen’s Plate.

Make this your tradition by   tuning in on Sunday, June 24 at 4:30 p.m. ET and hold your breath as the   broadcast team brings you all the excitement from both on and off the track.
