Upcoming Spruce Meadows events on CBC also include the ‘North   American’ and the ‘Masters’ with coverage on TV, online at cbcsports.ca and with   select events on bold and AMI-tv

This weekend marks the official   start of CBC’s 2012 coverage of the world’s best show jumping competitions from   Spruce Meadows. The network recently announced an extension to its more than   20-year partnership with the iconic venue that will keep high performance   international show jumping on CBC for the next three years. The action begins   with the ‘National’ on June 9 and 10.

The ‘National’ features   the best competitors from around the world as well as the Spruce Meadows   Canadian Show Jumping Championship. This tournament offers a glimpse at many of   the athletes from Canada and around the world that will be representing their   countries later this summer in London. Led by 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Eric   Lamaze—a veteran Spruce Meadows champion—the competition at the ‘National’ is sure to be intense.

Scott Russell, host and   play-by-play commentator, is joined this season by Olympic Gold Medalist Mac   Cone, who is still active in the International Ring. They are joined in the   broadcast booth by FEI Jumping Committee member Ian Allison and analyst Deanna   Phalen. Rounding out the team is veteran CBC Sports announcer Brenda Irving who   serves as a sideline reporter.

CBC’s 2012 championship show   jumping coverage continues with a final pre-London tournament with the ‘North   American’ on July 7, 8 and 14, followed by the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ from September 8-9. The ‘North American’ showcases the   best show jumping athletes and horses from the Americas and includes the Spruce   Meadows North American Show Jumping Championship. The ‘Masters’ is one of   the most prestigious tournaments in the sport, featuring competitors from the   world’s top show jumping nations vying for international honours and $2 million   in prize money. Over the course of the season, over $6 million in prize money is   on the line.

CBC’s multiplatform approach   ensures the audience doesn’t have to miss a minute of the action and intensity   from each of the eight events with coverage both on bold and CBC-TV as   well as online at cbcsports.ca. Full   broadcast details are below.

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) also   brings the action to Canadians who are blind or partially sighted through live   described simulcasts of select Spruce Meadows events, which will be broadcast on   AMI-tv.
