WHOSARMY ORIGINAL SINGLE PERFORMED FOR

THE FINALE CROWDS AND AVAILABLE ON iTUNES

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES BY ALL 8 BANDS AND JUDGES WOWS AUDIENCES

CBC’s COVER ME CANADA showcased the best new talent this country has to offer over the past eight   weeks and tonight announced that Toronto, Ontario’s Whosarmy was judged the best   new Canadian band by a combined vote from the judges and Canadian audiences.  Click here for a photo of the band’s winning moment.

“Canada couldn’t have asked for a better outcome   from a show that has thrilled audiences week to week combining raw talent with   beloved Canadian classic hits! It’s been thrilling for all three of us to watch   these bands grow musically. Ultimately it came down to two finalists that   proved to Canadian audiences that they had what it takes to dominate a stage and   leave their mark on the Canadian music scene. Only one could win and we thought   that these young men are consummate musicians and deserved to win. They are not   afraid of challenging themselves and they always respected the spirit of the   songs they were performing while not afraid to branch out with their own unique   arrangements. Travis’ vocal range and showmanship is fantastic! We know they   will have a strong future and everyone go out and download this great original   song,” commented Ron Fair on behalf of the judges.

The   original single, Alive, produced by Fair, was performed at the conclusion   of tonight’s show and is available for download on iTunes. The music for the   single was a song that Whosarmy had in their vault. Once they made it to the   final two they hooked up with Chantal Kreviazuk, who co-wrote the lyrics to Alive.

In   the star-packed finale the multi-platinum, Juno award winning band Hedley,  performed the first single, Invincible, from their newly released album, Storms, and all three COVER ME CANADA judges - Jordan Knight, Deborah Cox   and Ron Fair stepped out from behind their judges table to perform their version   of Glass Tiger’s top ten hit Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone produced by   fellow judge, Ron Fair. The song will also be available exclusively on iTunes.  Please click here for a photo of Hedley, Judges   performance.

G07, Simpson   Brothers, Georgia Murray, Living in Red, Warren Dean Flandez and Ali Milner who   were eliminated from the show come back to Studio 40 at the CBC to celebrate the   finale and perform with the remaining two bands a special performance of The   Parachute Club’s 1983 much beloved, Rise Up. Please click here for a photo of the group performance.

Every week   Canadians online buzz for the finalists was a factor is saving them from   elimination by the judges. In the finale, Canadians’ vote was also weighted in   the final decision and the winner was determined by a combination of the judges’  votes and Canada’s votes.

COVER ME CANADA was hosted by Nicole   Appleton (All Saints) and judges, along with mentor-producers   including Hawksley Workman, Kuya, and Gavin Brown, presided as the finalists   performed live in a bid to win the hearts of the nation and the opportunity of a   lifetime: a $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract for an original single   to be released by Universal Music Canada.

COVER ME   CANADA is produced by   Temple Street Productions based on a format co-created by 11 Entertainment and   CBC.
