CBC, CBCSPORTS.CA AND bold PRESENT EXCLUSIVE LIVE COVERAGE OF THE CALGARY STAMPEDE

Coverage begins with the CBC News special: William and Kate at the Stampede Friday at 10 a.m. ET

The eyes of Canadians - and those of royal visitors William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - will be focused on Calgary starting this week for “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth,” the legendary Calgary Stampede. From July 8 - 17, CBC, CBCSports.ca and CBC’s specialty channel bold will present comprehensive daily coverage, all in High Definition (HD), of the Calgary Stampede.

Coverage begins on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. ET/8 a.m. MT with the CBC News special William and Kate at the Stampede, hosted by CBC News chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge. For viewers in Southern Alberta, Calgary and Lethbridge, live parade coverage continues on CBC Television at Noon ET / 10 a.m. MT. The rest of the nation can continue to watch live on bold, and streamed live at CBCSports.ca. A special encore presentation for viewers nationwide will air on Saturday, July 9 at 9 a.m. ET on CBC.

Live coverage of the rodeo and chuckwagon action will air each day on bold and CBCSports.ca, while CBC Television will feature nightly rodeo wrap-up broadcasts July 8 - 16, as well as two prime-time chuckwagon specials on July 9 and 16. The final championship events can be seen on CBC July 17 including Showdown Sunday - rodeo’s richest afternoon with $1 million up for grabs - the Calgary Stampede Championship, and the Rangeland Derby Final (please see complete broadcast schedule attached)

Doug Dirks hosts CBC’s rodeo broadcasts alongside former PRCA World Champion bull rider Cody Snyder, who will serve as rodeo analyst. Jim Van Horne will helm the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon races with analysis from four-time Calgary Stampedechampion Tom Glass. National Cowboy Hall of Fame announcer Bob Tallman again joins the telecast to provide his unique blend of rodeo knowledge, down-home philosophy and insights on the cowboys and cowgirls who make up the competitors each day.
