WITH THE BATTLE BEHIND THEM, THE BLADES CAST SQUARE OFF ONE LAST TIME IN AFTER THE ICE MELTS

After The Ice Melts.jpeg

It was a season of blood, sweat and tears - eight weeks of stunning performances, incredible showmanship, thrilling victories and heart-breaking defeats. Now, the cast of 2010’s super-hit BATTLE OF THE BLADES gathers together for the very last time to relive the laughter and the tears in AFTER THE ICE MELTS, a one hour special airing Sunday, December 5 at 8 p.m. local time (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Television.

All 16 competitors, along with hosts Ron MacLean and Kurt Browning and judges Sandra Bezic and Jeremy Roenick, come together on the ice to share the highs and lows of the most exciting season in BLADES history - one that ended with Canadians falling in love with the dynamic Russian pair of Ekaterina “Katia” Gordeeva and Valeri Bure.

AFTER THE ICE MELTS relives the Russians’ fight for the crown - and the bitter disappointments and personal bests of the competitors as the season unfolded. The conversations will be unscripted and the competitors will be candid, as the show recalls the season’s most exciting moments and reveals exclusive, never-before-seen footage that will surprise a country that has grown to love BATTLE OF THE BLADES.

Viewers can learn more about the competitors atwww.cbc.ca/battle, the official online portal or the BATTLE OF THE BLADES. In addition to videos, blogs and behind-the-scene photos, the site offers viewers the opportunity to become fans of their favourite pair and track each participant’s activity as they strive to be the final pair remaining at the end of the series.

BATTLE OF THE BLADES is the brainchild of Kevin Albrecht with development by Sandra Bezic. BATTLE OF THE BLADES executive producers are John Brunton, Barbara Bowlby and Kevin Albrecht and show producers are Sandra Bezic and Sue Brophey. It is produced by Insight Productions in association with CBC Television airing Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. local time (8:30 NT).
