Kicking off live at 12 p.m. ET onCBC Television andCBCSports.ca, Scott Russellwill hostPopsicle Soccer Day in Canadafrom theCBC Soccer Nation Street Party at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in downtown Toronto. The day’s action leads off with theMLS on CBCColorado Rapids at Toronto FC match at 12 p.m. ET. At 2 p.m. ET, FIFA World Cup™action continues with the 3rdplace match, also available live on CBC Radio One.
At 4:30 p.m. ET,Popsicle Soccer Day in Canada coverage kicks in to high gear. Russell will check in on all the action in Lockhart Fields in New Minas, Nova Scotia for the largest women’s soccer tournament in Atlantic Canada; Quebec City, Quebec featuring a USL game between the Toronto Lady Lynx and the Q.C. Admirals commemorating the 50thanniversary of the Quebec Soccer Federation and; Calgary, Alberta at Shouldice Athletic Park and the “Giddy Up Cup”, a tournament including more than 150 teams including two from Africa.Popsicle Soccer Day in Canada will also includefeature stories from across the country, looking at ways Canadians participate in and celebrate the world’s game.
Viewers in the Greater Toronto Area are invited to come to the Canadian Broadcasting Centre (Wellington and John Streets) on Saturday July 10 and on Sunday, July 11, for theCBC Soccer Nation Street Party,starting each day at 10 a.m. Attendees can watch CBC coveragelive on outdoor screens and indoors in the CBC Atrium and can join CBC Radio 2, 94.1 FM on 4:30 - 6 p.m. for a live all-star musical concert featuringJully Black, Alex Cuba, Jesse Cook and David Rudder, hosted by Metro Morning’s Matt Galloway.
