CBC brings Canadians the beautiful game with all 64 matches of the2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, live and on demand, in high definition. All 64 matches will be available in high definition onbold HDfrom June 11 to July 11, including eight exclusive live games on June 22, 23, 24 and 25, as well as theFIFA World Cup™ Post-game Show.
In a Canadian television first, CBC will present the third place and Final matches from theFIFA World Cup™in spectacular 3D.The matches will be availableto Rogers Digital Cable, Cogeco, Shaw Cable and Shaw Direct, and TELUS subscribers. CBC Television’s coverage begins on Thursday, June 10 at 7 p.m. / 7:30 NT (LIVE at 6 p.m. ET onCBCSports.ca) with a special preview of the2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, highlighting the teams, the players, and the impact the event is having on South Africa.
On Friday, June 11 at 8 a.m. ET, CBC kicks-off coverage with theOpening Ceremonyfrom the newly reconstructed Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. Gemini Award-winner Scott Russell will host CBC’s afternoon and prime time broadcasts, whileMLS on CBC‘s Mitch Peacock will host the morning edition of2010 FIFA World Cup™Today. Both programs will feature live coverage of the events as they unfold in South Africa.
