CBC Vancouver Asks Local Residents, " What's Your Story?"

Special series on CBC TV, radio and online features local stories generated by the public

VANCOUVER - Calling all Metro Vancouver residents! Starting today, CBC Vancouver invites   locals to share original pitches with CBC Vancouver News. The weekly What‘sYour Story?   segment will feature stories affecting communities and residents across Metro Vancouver, as submitted by the public. #MyLocalStory video submissions will   be reviewed by the CBC Vancouver team, with successful segment ideas airing on CBC Vancouver News, CBC Radio One and online at cbc.ca/bc.

“Telling local stories is at the heart of what CBC Vancouver is all about” says Johnny Michel, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia and Alberta.   “The What‘s Your Story? segment allows for a greater voice for residents and helps us access the diversity of issues and narratives in   our communities, bringing an even stronger reflection of our audience within the 6 p.m. newscast.”

The public will be able to create video pitches in a special CBC Vancouver “sound booth”, which will travel to locations throughout Metro Vancouver for   eight weeks beginning Monday, October 5th. To launch What‘sYour Story?, the booth will be set up in the Atrium Court of Metropolis at   Metrotown from October 5 - 11. A full public activation will be on-site for the week, accompanied by a life-size hologram experience featuring Andrew   Chang, the host of CBC Vancouver News.

In addition to creating pitches on site, people are invited to send in their video pitches via CBC Vancouver’s social media channels using the hashtag   #MyLocalStory, or via email to mylocalstory@cbc.ca. The What‘sYour Story? portable “sound booth” will be stationed in different locations   throughout the city until November 30th. For full activation schedule, please visit cbc.ca/bc.
