VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Former host of CBC News Montreal, Andrew Chang, will be moving to Vancouver this summer to join the award-winning team at CBC Vancouver. Chang will head up the CBC News Vancouver at 5 & 6 broadcasts.
Chang has been with the CBC for 10 years. He got his start as one of CBC’s chief staff reporters, covering both local and national breaking news, as both a reporter and video journalist. He was also part of the broadcast team for Sochi 2014 hosting with CBC’s Andi Petrillo. Most recently, he hosted CBC Radio One’s The Current while Anna Maria Tremonti was on summer leave.
“Andrew has a gift for interviewing and analysis. He can break down a story like few others can,” said Johnny Michel, senior managing director for CBC British Columbia and Alberta. “His passion for news coupled with a strong technical background in editing, shooting and programming positions him perfectly for where the future of broadcasting is going - multiple skills in a multiplatform environment.”
In addition to hosting CBC News Vancouver at 5 & 6, Chang will provide perspective on headlines for the day on radio as well as provide analysis on cbc.ca/bc.
Current host, Gloria Macarenko, will become the new host of CBC Radio One’s network show The Story From Here, a popular program featuring a curation of stories from CBC Radio One programs across the country. The show will be produced in Vancouver by award-winning producer Yvonne Gall.
“This is an incredible time of change for the CBC and the industry in general,” says Macarenko. “I believe with every change comes opportunity. I look forward to adding radio to my role.”
Macarenko will continue to host the weekly current affairs television show, Our Vancouver, and is developing a regular segment on CBC News Vancouver at 5 & 6 that will showcase one-on-one interviews with a wide range of high profile Vancouverites.
“Gloria will continue to be a strong part of CBC Vancouver. She will move seamlessly through all platforms doing what she does best, connecting with people and telling their stories,” says Michel. “Gloria is an iconic part of Vancouver and the CBC. We are fortunate to have such an amazing person on our team.”

Chang who left CBC News Montreal on May 30 to go on paternity leave, welcomed his new daughter, Arianna, on June 6. He will begin his on-air role with CBC News Vancouver at 5 & 6 September 1st.
Macarenko, who celebrated her 25th year with CBC in 2014, will begin hosting The Story From Here on September 3rd. Her new interview segment will begin airing on CBC News Vancouver in mid-September.
CBC News Vancouver airs weeknights at 5, 6 and 11 pm, Saturdays at 10:30 pm and Sundays at 11 pm on CBC TV. CBC News Vancouver can also be seen on CHEK TV 7 nights a week at 6 pm.
