2016 CBC SHORT STORY PRIZE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

CBC BOOKS, CBC’s website devoted to books and authors, readers and
  writers, together with its partners the Canada Council for the Arts, Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and The Banff Centre, is pleased to announce
  the finalists for the 2016 CBC Short Story Prize.

 

  They are:

 
  •  
  •       Matthew Belyea       of Saint John, New Brunswick for Jake, the Imposter
  •  
  •       David Huebert       of London, Ontario - originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia - for Enigma
  •  
  •       S. Kennedy Sobol       of Toronto, Ontario - originally from Lanark, Ontario - for 20 Percent Donnas
  •  
  •       Justine Mazin       of Toronto, Ontario for Packing Snow
  •  
  •       Elaine Stirling       of Toronto, Ontario for Restitution
 

Their stories were selected from more than 1800 received from across the country. As of today, the public can read them all on   CBCBooks.ca.

 

  The jurors for this year’s CBC Short Story Prize are Greg Hollingshead, Padma Viswanathan and Richard Van camp. The jury will
  select the winner, who will be announced on April 19, 2016.

 

  In addition to a cash prize of $6000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Grand Prize winner will receive a ten-day writing residency at The Banff
  Centre and will be published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine. The four other finalists will each receive $1000 from the Canada Council for the
  Arts and will be published on the CBC Books website.

 

The French-language Prix de la nouvelle finalists were also announced this morning. More information on them can be found at   ICI.Radio-canada.ca/icionlit.
