CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s Olympic Network, has announced that Executive Director of CBC Sports, Greg Stremlaw, has also been named general manager and chef de mission for CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

As GM and chef de mission, Stremlaw will continue to work closely with key stakeholders to ensure CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Games achieves the collective goal of bringing the country together through the unifying power inherent in sport. Stakeholders include Canada’s National Sport Organizations, the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committees, and Own the Podium, as well as broadcast partners Bell and Rogers.

“Having spent my career in the world of sports, the Olympics are near and dear to my heart and I look forward to fulfilling the responsibilities that come with this role,” said Stremlaw. “Emphasis will be placed on engagement and collaboration within all internal departments across CBC/Radio-Canada, year-round—not just during Rio 2016—and I look forward to our continued success in bringing world-class coverage to Canadians across all our platforms.”

Since joining CBC Sports this past September, Stremlaw has continued to strengthen the network’s position as the home of high-performance sport coverage in Canada. CBC Sports has renewed its commitment to connecting audiences with Canada’s high-performance athletes and their sports with the launch of ROAD TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES. This multi-platform program features a 360-degree storytelling model that positions athletes and their stories at the centre.

Stremlaw will make further announcements regarding the Olympic portfolio in the coming weeks and months.
