CBC today announced that Marie McCann has been appointed senior director of CBC Kids. Reporting to Tara Ellis, executive director, scripted content, CBC, McCann will continue to lead the development and production of all children’s content at CBC. McCann oversaw the recent rebrand of Kids' CBC to CBC Kids, including the launch of new interactive interstitial series Studio K, which is targeted to kids aged 3 - 8 and features new hosts Victor, Janaye and Tony and new puppets Gary the Unicorn, Mr. Orlando and Cottonball the Cat.

"Marie brings fresh energy, creativity and a wealth of experience to CBC Kids, and we look forward to building on our proud legacy of delivering imaginative, authentic and trusted children's content to Canadian kids and families under her leadership," said Ellis.
A production and development executive with more than two decades of experience, McCann served as executive in charge of production for children's content at CBC from 2007 to 2012, and then returned to that role in early 2016 before being appointed interim senior director of Kids' CBC in August 2016. Prior to returning to CBC, McCann was head of preschool production at TVOntario for three years, where her credits included Gisele’s Big Backyard.
