CBC claimed four wins at last night’s Canadian Screen Award gala honouring excellence in digital and immersive storytelling. These wins bring CBC’s overall total to 40 Canadian Screen Awards to date over Nights One, Two and Three.
CBC Comedy digital series led the way with THE AMAZING GAYL PILE taking home two awards for Best Original Program or Series for Digital Media – Fiction and Best Direction in a Program or Series Produced for Digital Media. Canadian acting legend Paul Soles was greeted with a standing ovation as he accepted the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Program or Series Produced for Digital Media for his role in MY 90-YEAR-OLD ROOMMATE.
CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON was recognized with the award for Best Cross-Platform Project.
The 2017 Canadian Screen Awards, hosted by comedian Howie Mandel, will be broadcast live on CBC on Sunday, March 12 at 8 p.m. (9 AT/ 9:30 NT). Leading up to the broadcast, Canadians can share their thoughts on the nominees with CBC on Twitter @CBC using #CdnScreenAwards.
