NEW CBC AND iTHENTIC ORIGINAL SERIES SAVE ME HITS TRAUMCOM ON THE HEAD

Created by and starring Fab Filippo (Guidestones, Queer as Folk), SAVE ME starts streaming today at cbc.ca/saveme

The series proudly brings together 46 of Canada’s finest screen and stage stars, spanning 10 original episodes

SAVE ME, a 10-part original anthology series that takes a comedic yet poignant look at lives on the brink of a 911 emergency incident, launches today at cbc.ca/saveme. Produced by iThentic, SAVE ME is ultimately about people in the moment just before their lives change – often drastically – and the people who show up when all hell breaks loose. The series candidly finds the humour in the unexpected and surprising paths to trauma, and delves deep into the lives of a vast cast of characters, all loosely connected by the paramedics that treat them after being blindsided by a medical emergency.

“Everybody has experienced trauma, and finding the humour in universal experiences is what comedy is all about,” said Fab Filippo, SAVE ME creator and star. “This is an amazing time for telling exciting stories in unconventional ways, and we are lucky to have some of Canada's most talented and most iconic actors to find the light in some of life's darkest moments.”

Viewers can ride along as first responder Goldie (Fab Filippo) and his revolving cast of paramedic partners, played by notable actors such as Amy Matysio (Wolf Cop), John Bourgeois (Designated Survivor), and Loretta Yu (Blood and Water) respond to 911 calls in downtown Toronto.

“SAVE ME is an exciting step forward for CBC. Writer-director-actor Fab Filippo has delivered on his impressive creative vision for a series that defies categorization – and expectations – as it mines comedy from the depth of human drama,” said Zach Feldberg, executive in charge of production, Digital Originals, CBC. “We think our online audience will be captivated by Goldie and the remarkable cast of characters who encounter him in each episode.”

46 of Canada’s brightest talents appear across the 10 episodes including Sonja Smits (The Best Laid Plans), Brent Carver (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow), Jean Yoon (Kim’s Convenience), Emma Hunter (Mr. D, The Beaverton), and Suresh John (Mr. D).

A CBC original series, SAVE ME is produced by iThentic with the participation of the Independent Production Fund (IPF), and the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation. The series is created, written and directed by Fab Filippo and produced by Lisa Baylin. Jonas Diamond, Catherine Tait and Fab Filippo serve as executive producers.
