CBC SPORTS AND SPRUCE MEADOWS RENEW BROADCAST AGREEMENT THROUGH 2020

The renewed agreement will see CBC Sports continue to provide coverage of championship show jumping events on TV and online at cbcsports.ca and via the CBC Sports app for the next three years

CBC Sports will continue to be home to the world’s best championship show jumping competitions through the 2020 season thanks to a renewal of the network’s agreement with Spruce Meadows – one of the world’s top venues for international equestrian events. The announcement was first made during CBC Sports’ coverage of the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ tournament as part of ROAD TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES this past weekend.

Over the last quarter-century, CBC Sports has partnered with Spruce Meadows to bring the excitement and grace of major international show jumping events to Canadians each summer and fall. The renewed agreement will see CBC Sports continue to offer coverage of Spruce Meadows-hosted events, including ‘The National,’ ‘The North American,’ and ‘The Masters’ – part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping – over the next three years. In addition, CBC Sports will continue to provide broadcast and live-streaming coverage of the three other events from the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping – CHIO Aachen, CHI Geneva and The Dutch Masters.

“CBC Sports has been a broadcast partner with Spruce Meadows for 25 years and we look forward to continuing to share world-class equestrian events with our audiences for another three years,” said Greg Stremlaw, executive director, CBC Sports, and general manager, Olympics. “Canada is consistently among the world leaders in show jumping and we are proud to continue to tell the story of our homegrown athletes and the international stars with whom they compete.”

“We are delighted to be able to continue our partnership with CBC Sports. From the very start of our relationship 25 years ago, CBC Sports committed to take the very best of international show jumping to every Canadian across this country,’’ said Spruce Meadows president and CEO, Linda Southern-Heathcott. “CBC Sports has done so, and in doing so has set the standard globally for broadcast excellence in our sport.”

CBC Sports’ coverage of championship show jumping continues this season. For the latest news, results, video, and broadcast schedules visit cbcsports.ca.
