CBC took home five Canadian Screen Awards from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television at last night’s gala honouring excellence in digital and immersive storytelling. This brings the public broadcaster’s total awards count to 35 Canadian Screen Awards through the first three gala nights.
CBC Comedy series THE NEDDEAUS OF DUQESNE ISLAND was recognized with Best Direction, Web Program or Series for Sam Zvibleman and CANADA: THE STORY OF US took home Best Cross-Platform Project, Non-Fiction. CBC programs were also recognized in key performance categories including a Best Actress, Web Program or Series win for Emma Hunter for her role in SAVE ME and a nod for CBC Radio’s THIS IS THAT host Peter Oldring as Best Actor, Web Program or Series.CBC Kids’ program SMALL TALK was recognized for Best Host, Web Program or Series for David Keystone’s work.

The 2018 Canadian Screen Awards, hosted by Jonny Harris and Emma Hunter, will be broadcast live on CBC on Sunday, March 11 at 8 p.m. (9 AT/9:30 NT). The awards gala will also stream globally at cbc.ca/watch and youtube.com/cbc.
