CBC Music today announced that JUNO Award-nominated artist Jenn Grant, Saskatchewan folk duo Kacy & Clayton and South African-Canadian singer-songwriter Zaki Ibrahim will join the country’s largest all-Canadian lineup of artists for the CBC Music Festival at RBC Echo Beach on Saturday, May 26. Limited tickets are still available through Live Nation at cbcmusic.ca/festival for $39.50 + fees; admission for children 12 and under is free.
Set times for the Main Stage, q Stage (hosted by Tom Power) and Festival Stage are now available via cbcmusic.ca/festival, as well as the schedule for the popular CBC Kids Stage where A Tribe Called Red, The Rural Alberta Advantage and The Jerry Cans will perform a second, pared-down performance in the Kids’ Zone, hosted by CBC Kids’ Cottonball, Tony and Victor.
New this year, CBC Music will present a fifth stage, the River Bar Stage, showcasing emerging acts from around the Greater Toronto Area, including R&B artist TOBi; pop singer JXCK KXLLY; soul/R&B singer-songwriter Alcordo; and indie-folk duo Moscow Apartment. For the first time ever, CBC Music Festival will also feature a CBC Comedy Stage, with a full lineup of comedic actors and stand-up comedians including comedian Sophie Kohn; comedian Martha Chaves; comedian Jeremy Woodcock; actress and comedian Rakhee Morzaria (Note to Self); an appearance by actress Dani Kind from CBC’s Workin’ Moms; and more.
This year will also see an expanded Food Truck Fair where attendees can discover local favourites and specialty food items, a flea market and a variety of onsite activities. Fans can experience the magic of the hockey playoffs at the CBC Sports tent and have their photo taken with trophies including the James Norris (best defenceman), Lady Byng (most sportsmanlike player) and Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) on the iconic Hockey Night in Canada desk. The CBC Kids’ Zone will include a meet-and-greet with the stars from the hit series PJ Masks, a craft station, a rock ‘n’ roll tattoo parlour and hair salon, and a giant sandbox with beach toys.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy RBC Echo Beach’s amenities including a complimentary bike valet and the opportunity to catch a show from the water with stand-up paddle boards, turbo tubes and two-person non-tip yaks rentals for $10 per person for 30 minutes. In addition, onsite scavenger hunts hosted from the CBC Music tent will offer fans a chance to win an upgrade on their festival passes that would allow them to watch from the CBC Toronto VIP Lounge.
All performances on the Main Stage and q Stage will be streamed at cbcmusic.ca/festival and on CBC Music’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Following the festival, a one-hour television special airing on CBC on Sunday, July 1st at 8:00 p.m. (8:30 NT) will allow Canadians to relive festival highlights and catch backstage interviews with the artists.
