CBC MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FINAL LINEUP AND ONSITE ENTERTAINMENT FOR SATURDAY, MAY 25 IN TORONTO

DJ NDN and Gabrielle Shonk join a lineup of some of Canada’s most talented musical artists including Alvvays, Stars, Rhye, Buffy Sainte-Marie and more

The CBC Comedy Stage features headliner Ivan Decker, sets from Sandra Battaglini, Joel Buxton, Nick Nemeroff, Jordan Pines, Carol Zoccoli and an appearance by the Toronto sketch comedy troupe from the upcoming CBC series TALLBOYZ

CBC Music today announced that DJ NDN (also known as Ian Campeau, formerly of A Tribe Called Red) and JUNO Award-nominated singer-songwriter Gabrielle Shonk will join the lineup of previously announced talent set to perform at CBC Music Festival at Toronto’s RBC Echo Beach on Saturday, May 25. Limited tickets for the country’s largest all-Canadian music festival are still available through Live Nation at cbcmusic.ca/festival for $39.50 + fees, while admission for children 12 and under is free.

DJ NDN will take to the q Stage (hosted by Tom Power), while JUNO Award-nominated artist Gabrielle Shonk will perform on the new JUNOS 365 Stage.  Also announced today, CBC Music Festival attendees can look forward to the return of the CBC Comedy Stage with headliner and 2018 JUNO Award-winner for Comedy Album of the Year Ivan Decker, an appearance by the sketch comedy troupe from the upcoming CBC series TALLBOYZ, and stand up sets from Sandra Battaglini, Joel Buxton, Nick Nemeroff, Jordan Pines and Carol Zoccoli. A full schedule of set times for all stages and the CBC Kids Stage lineup will be released at cbcmusic.ca/festival next week.

In between shows at RBC Echo Beach, CBC Music Festival’s onsite activities will include:

  • Free hand-drawn temporary tattoos at the CBC Arts tent with custom designs by artists profiled in the CBC Arts tattoo series Art Hurts.
  • Rainbow tambourine making with True from True and the Rainbow Kingdom, magic demos and cardistry with Joey and Brad of The Thrillusionists, cast members from Detention Adventure, a kids temporary tattoo parlour, rock ‘n’ roll makeup/hair studio and more at this year’s CBC Kids Zone.
  • Appearances by CBC Toronto hosts Dwight Drummond and Matt Galloway, Fresh Air host Nana aba Duncan, and CBC Music hosts Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, Odario Williams, Raina Douris, Rich Terfry and Tom Allen, and CBC Kids hosts Cottonball the puppet and Tony Kim.
  • Get a limited edition tote bag at the CBC Podcasts booth, discover which podcast fits your personality and win CBC swag and prizes.
  • The Food Truck Fair returns with local favourites and specialty food items and an expanded Craft Flea Market.
  • Onsite kayak, yak or stand up paddle board rentals at $10 per person for 30 minutes.
  • A complimentary bike valet where guests can securely lock up their bicycles from 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On May 25, all Main Stage and q Stage performances will be streamed live on cbcmusic.ca/festival, the CBC Gem streaming service and on CBC Music’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Following the festival, a one-hour television special airing on CBC on Monday, July 1 at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) will allow Canadians to relive their favourite festival moments and catch backstage interviews with the artists.
