CBC/Radio-Canada, Fremantle and Spin Master with Imagination Games Partner to Release “Family Feud Canada” Board Game Exclusively at Walmart Canada

TORONTO –  August 12, 2020 – Last week, CBC/Radio-Canada, Fremantle and Spin Master with Imagination Games announced the launch of a new FAMILY FEUD CANADA™ board game, which is now available in English and French exclusively at Walmart Canada stores.

The release of the Canadian version of the board game extends Fremantle’s successful line of FAMILY FEUD™ games with versions also available in the U.S. with Spin Master and Australia with Imagination Games. Developed following the successful launch of the FAMILY FEUD CANADA television show on CBC last fall, the Canadian board game features hundreds of survey questions and a Fast Money Bonus Round.

“We are so proud of this show and the overwhelming response it received from audiences across Canada each week,” said Justin Huck, Manager, Merchandise Licensing & Affiliate Programs, CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions. “The ‘Family Feud Canada’ board game extends the show experience into homes, and offers families a fun way to stay entertained and connected during these times when we are all spending more time at home than ever before.”

“Walmart Canada is Canada’s #1 Toy Shop** and we are proud to be the exclusive retailer for the new ‘Family Feud Canada’ Game,” said Greg Lobb, Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Hardlines & Electronics, Walmart Canada. “We know our customers will be excited to share this game with their families.”

“As a Canadian-based, leading children’s entertainment company we are proud to partner with Walmart Canada and CBC/Radio-Canada to bring the exciting, race against the clock trivia of FAMILY FEUD CANADA into board game form for families and friends to enjoy,” said Jeffery Cunningham, SVP and GM of Canada, Spin Master.

Launched in December 2019 and hosted by comedian Gerry Dee, the first season of FAMILY FEUD CANADA saw 62 Canadian families compete from communities all over the country, reaching 2.6 million viewers in Canada each week with an average audience of 518,000 per episode four nights each week, including 30 percent in the 25-54 demographic. More than half of all viewers watched with others in their household.*

FAMILY FEUD CANADA will return with 104 new episodes this fall, airing Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. on CBC TV and the CBC Gem streaming service. Each episode features two Canadian families competing to guess the most popular answers to fun, family-friendly survey-type questions based on responses from a sample of Canadians. The search is now on for new families, who can read tips on how to safely create and submit an audition video without breaking social distancing measures at CBC.ca/familyfeud.

Family Feud is one of television's longest-running and top-rated game shows watched by audiences around the world. First introduced in the U.S. in 1976, the US version of Family Feud has aired in 87 territories across all seasons and 67 territories have made local versions of this much-loved game show format. FAMILY FEUD CANADA is produced by Zone3 and based on the Fremantle format, in association with CBC.
