S-Media partners with CBC Sports to bring Ski Television to CBC Gem

TORONTO, Canada S-Media is pleased to announce a new partnership with CBC Sports that will see the latest season of Ski Television (SkiTV) (12x24) launch on the free CBC Gem streaming service beginning Friday, January 22, 2021. The premier ski tourism show, SkiTV provides visually stunning ski programming and showcases ski destinations around the world including Canada, the United States, South America, Asia and Europe. Episodes of SkiTV will be available weekly on CBC Gem in both English and Chinese (Mandarin).

SkiTV focuses on ski travel, competition and lifestyle, bringing viewers aspirational and informative ski content from around the world. Designed to inspire skiers at all levels, the series  takes viewers through the full resort experience, highlighting all the elements  that make up a ski vacation. The new season will transport audiences to breathtaking ski locations, including: Soelden, Austria; Wengen, Switzerland; Kitzbuhel, Austria; St. Anton, Austria; and Lapland, Finland; and three in beautiful B.C.: Kicking Horse, Revelstoke and Fernie.

“We are excited to be adding CBC Gem to our distribution partners and opening up SkiTV to a new audience online,” says S-Media Managing Partner, Mark Kristofic. “As Canada’s Olympic broadcaster and rights holder for FIS World Cup ski programming, a partnership with CBC is a natural fit.”

“SkiTV is an established and well-respected series for fans of the sport, and will be a natural companion to weekly staple Road to the Olympic Games, providing viewers with the opportunity to learn more about the international competition venues they will see throughout the championship season,” said Chris Wilson, Executive Director, Sports & Olympics, CBC. “This is especially relevant as we look towards the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and Canadians look for new and engaging content about the sport.”

SkiTV is one of Canada's longest-running television shows, having started regionally in 1979 and expanding to print and digital platforms. In 2017, SkiTV expanded into China’s growing winter sport industry in advance of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
