Kimberley, British Columbia, is declared winner of The Search for B.C.’s Best Small Town

Audiences across the province voted for the winning small town in CBC British Columbia’s online competition

After more than 850,000 votes and 127 eliminations, Kimberley, B.C., is the winner of The Search for B.C.’s Best Small Town, CBC British Columbia’s online bracket-style competition powered by seven weeks of audience participation and provincial pride.  

The winner of the contest was revealed today on CBC Radio One morning shows across the province. In its final round, Kimberley succeeded Ucluelet, British Columbia, by more than 2,000 votes. 

“The public broadcaster prioritizes connecting with local communities and B.C.’s small towns, like Kimberley, are diverse, unique and full of stories to tell,” says Shiral Tobin, Director, Journalism and Programming CBC, British Columbia. “The friendly competition bolstered small town pride, championed a sense of community and connected to the hearts of audiences across the province.” 

Today, CBC is in Kimberley to celebrate the news with local residents with special prizes and CBC Vancouver News at 6 with host Dan Burritt will broadcast live from the community.
