NEW YEAR, NEW HOST FOR CBC RADIO ONE'S NORTH BY NORTHWEST

Margaret Gallagher begins new hosting position tomorrow

Vancouver, B.C. – A voice that CBC Radio One audiences know and love is stepping into the host chair of British Columbia’s #1 weekend radio show. Tomorrow, January 7, 2023, CBC’s Margaret Gallagher begins her new reign as host of North by Northwest, bringing her enthusiasm for the arts into the homes and hearts of audiences across the province.

As the previous host of Hot Air—CBC's longest running radio program—and a fixture on Vancouver programs The Early Edition and On The Coast, the award-winning reporter is no stranger to CBC Radio listeners. Now Gallagher will be setting her alarm bright and early on Saturdays and Sundays as she transitions to the weekend morning spot, replacing longtime North by Northwest host Sheryl MacKay who retired after her last day on air, December 31, 2022.

“Morning radio is very special—connecting with people as they start their day is a huge privilege and it can set the tone for what comes next,” said Gallagher. “Hosting North by Northwest is a wonderful opportunity to meet creative people from every corner of the province and to share their stories with British Columbians.”

Audiences can join Gallagher on her debut as North by Northwest’s new host tomorrow morning on CBC Radio One and streaming live on CBC Listen.
