FAMILY FEUD CANADA KICKS OFF SEASON 5 WITH FIRST-EVER TEACHERS’ WEEK, SEPTEMBER 18-21 ON CBC GEM AND CBC TV

Hosted by Gerry Dee, new episodes of FAMILY FEUD CANADA (102x30) begin Monday, September 18, with four Teachers’ Week specials

CBC today announced the eight Canadian schools who will be represented in the first-ever FAMILY FEUD CANADA Teachers’ Week, premiering Monday, September 18. Hosted by Gerry Dee , the fifth season will feature 102 new episodes and be available to stream on CBC Gem starting at 9 a.m. ET each Monday through Thursday, with broadcast on CBC TV at 7:30 p.m. (8 NT) local time each night.
 

Teachers’ Week sees educators from two schools go head-to-head for a chance to win $10,000 towards equipment and supplies for their students. The schools competing are:

Monday, September 18

  • QUEEN ELIZABETH SECONDARY SCHOOL (Surrey, BC) – The school is made up of 1,500 students with a passion for gym class – all five teachers competing on the team are physical education instructors! The team consists of Mr. Bowie (Physical Education), Ms. Calbick (Physical Education), Mrs. Muirhead (French/Physical Education), Mr. Badwal (Physical Education) and Mr. Klein (Physical Education).

  • ÉCOLE WESTLOCK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Westlock, AB) – The team of elementary school teachers doubles as a close-knit group of friends outside the school as well. The team consists of Mrs. Roberts (Grade 5), Ms. Biberdorf (Grade 6), Mlle. Thompson (Grade 3/4 French Immersion), Mrs. Evans (Grade 6 EA) and Ms. Johnston (Grade 6).

Tuesday, September 19

  • OCEANVIEW EDUCATION CENTRE (Glace Bay, NS) – Oceanview is the only middle school in Glace Bay and their school mascot Sharkie will be making a special appearance on the Family Feud Canada stage. The team consists of Mrs. Bradbury (Student Support Counsellor), Mrs. Roach (French), Mrs. Tracey (Creative Arts), Mr. Sidney (Art) and Mrs. Ma ko cNeil (Math & Health).

  • CEDARBRAE COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE (Scarborough, ON) – Cedarbrae’s school mascot Cedric the Horse will be cheering this team of teachers on from the Family Feud Canada audience. The team consists of Ms. Richards-Sauer (Principal), Ms. McLeod (Art), Ms. Hall (Drama), Ms. Young (English) and Mr. Reznicki (Business).

Wednesday, September 20

  • J.V. CLARK SCHOOL (Mayo, YT) – With only 42 students enrolled, the J.V. Clark team of educators makes up the entire teaching staff at the school. The team consists of Mr. Stauffer (Grade 6/7), Mr. Reid (Educational Assistant), Ms. Caroline (Shop Teacher), Ms. McCauley (Vice Principal and French) and Ms. Amy (Grade 4/5).

  • SALISBURY COMPOSITE HIGH SCHOOL (Sherwood Park, AB) – Salisbury is a composite high school of nearly 1,200 students in grades 10-12. The team consists of Mr. Latte (Science), Mrs. Tomkow (Physical Education), Mr. Van Drunen (Math and Physical Education), Mr. Brown (Science) and Ms. Khunkhun (Math).

Thursday, September 21

  • AVON VIEW HIGH SCHOOL (Windsor, NS) – Avon View High School is well known in Nova Scotia for their Prom Parade and senior prank pulled each year by the graduating students. The team consists of Ms. Campbell (Canadian & Global History), Mr. Earley (Science), Ms. Clairmont (English), Mr. Davies (Math) and Ms. Pollard (Science).

  • BERNICE MACNAUGHTON HIGH SCHOOL (Moncton, NB) – This Moncton-based school has a long-standing tradition where students are sorted into Scottish Clans to compete for the House Cup. The team consists of Mrs. Moore (Music), Mrs. Touchie (Music), Mr. Cormier (Digital Production, Journalism), Mrs. Dominie (Guidance), Mr. Matheson (Biology, Pathology, Health Care).

Filmed in front of a live audience at the CBC Broadcasting Centre in Toronto, FAMILY FEUD CANADA invites families from coast-to-coast-to-coast to go head-to-head to guess the top responses to survey questions, with a uniquely Canadian twist, for a chance to take home up to $30,000 per family.

Family Feud is one of television's longest-running and top-rated game shows watched by audiences around the world. First introduced in the U.S. in 1976, the much-loved game show has been picked up in 71 international markets to date including the United Kingdom, Australia, France, India, Indonesia, and the United States.

FAMILY FEUD CANADA is produced by Zone3 and based on the Fremantle format, in association with CBC. For Zone 3, Jeffrey Wraight is Executive Producer and Showrunner.
