CBC NEWS LAUNCHES SEVEN LOCAL PODCASTS ACROSS CANADA

New podcasts spotlight local stories and answer listeners’ questions in two formats

CBC has launched seven new podcasts from CBC News, spotlighting and celebrating diverse local communities from P.E.I. to Vancouver Island, and answering listeners' questions from across the country. Audiences are invited to join CBC journalists and hosts on an adventure each week to explore and learn something new and meaningful about the place they call home. The first episode of each of the seven CBC News local podcasts are available now on CBC Listen or wherever you get your podcasts, with new episodes released weekly.

"These new offerings in the podcast space will expand our regional programming and bring more local conversations to wider audiences across the country," says Brodie Fenlon, General Manager and Editor in Chief, CBC News. "As the national public broadcaster, we strive to connect listeners to Canada and to each other with compelling content that reflects their communities, lived experiences and diverse perspectives."

The local podcasts are organized into two formats:

This is…: Meet the people behind the essential, sometimes random, and occasionally infuriating stories shaping your community every week.

Good Question…: Every week, this podcast will answer your questions about your community. Nothing too big, too small, or too weird.

Reinforcing CBC’s strategic initiative to prioritize local connections across the country, this first set of seven podcasts features genuine, personalized content produced by journalists and hosts who are in the heart of their community. Additional local CBC News podcasts will be announced soon.
