The Canadian Film Centre and CBC Renew Actors Conservatory Partnership for Two Years

Applications for the 2025 CBC Actors Conservatory are open now

The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) and CBC are pleased to announce their extended partnership for the prestigious CBC Actors Conservatory, with the national public broadcaster continuing as the Presenting Partner for two additional years. The near decade-long union first began in 2016 and this expanded collaboration reaffirms both organizations’ commitment to supporting and nurturing the next generation of Canadian talent in the film and television industry.

The CBC Actors Conservatory is a six-month immersive onscreen acting program designed to elevate actors' works by increasing their confidence in the craft, expanding their onscreen portfolios, and building strong connections within the industry. Through tailored mentorship, workshops, and industry sessions, the program prepares talent to meet the demands of today’s competitive entertainment landscape. Today marks the launch of the call for applications for the 2025 cohort.

“The CBC Actors Conservatory has played a pivotal role in the upward career trajectories of many of our home grown talent.” said Kathryn Emslie, Executive Lead, Programs, CFC. “The CBC’s collaboration has helped establish a vibrant community of exciting onscreen artists who are making an impact not only by lighting up our screens but also by stepping behind the camera to tell their stories. We are very thankful to the CBC for continuing to invest in our actors by supporting a program that further expands their possibilities.”

“We are proud to extend our relationship with the Canadian Film Centre for the CBC Actors Conservatory, a crucial program that supports the development of emerging talent in the film and television industry,” said Sally Catto, General Manager, Entertainment, Factual and Sports, CBC. “Our longstanding collaboration will continue to encourage the next generation of performers to unlock new artistic potential and propel their careers forward.”

The CBC Actors Conservatory has supported and helped elevate the voices and talent of over 100 actors including Annie Murphy (Schitt's Creek), Araya Mengesha (Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent), Ashton James (BoxCutter, Young Blood, Madness); Gia Sandhu (Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Stealing Vows), Giacomo Gianniotti (Wild Cards, Grey's Anatomy), Grace Glowicki (Dead Lover), Michelle McLeod (Women Talking), Milcania Diaz-Rojas (40 Acres), Patrick Kwok-Choon (Star Trek: Discovery) and Supinder Wraich (Allegiance, Sort Of).

Applications for the 2025 CBC Actors Conservatory are now open and the selected participants will be announced later this year.
