Swimming star Penny Oleksiak is one of Canada’s most decorated Olympians with seven Olympic medals, winning her first gold at 16 years old. But last month she was given a two-year ban from competition for an anti-doping rule violation by the International Testing Agency after missing three random drug tests, considered whereabouts failures. In a CBC worldwide exclusive interview, Oleksiak sits down with CBC Sports’ Devin Heroux to address whether she used performance-enhancing drugs, what this means for her legacy, and if she still hopes to compete at the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
Produced by CBC News: The National, Penny Oleksiak Speaks is now available on CBC News: The National’s YouTube channel and the CBC Sports YouTube channel. The worldwide exclusive interview will be on The National at 9 p.m. ET on CBC News Network and 10 p.m. local (10:30NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem.
