CBC/Radio-Canada Holiday Campaigns Raise Millions for Canadian Communities in Need

Every year, CBC/Radio-Canada partners with local food banks and charities from coast to coast to coast.

Every year during the holiday season, CBC/Radio-Canada partners with local food banks and charitable organizations to help make the season kind. Last month, millions of dollars were raised for people in need.

CBC’s Make the Season Kind holiday drive raised $8.3 million for food banks, an increase of more than five per cent compared to the 2024 drive ($7.8 million). In addition to these local fundraisers nationwide, CBC pop-up food trucks toured holiday markets in Langley, B.C.; Edmonton; Winnipeg; Kitchener, Ontario; and Halifax. Renowned local chefs curated the menus, creating dishes using the items most frequently requested by food banks to raise awareness of food insecurity. Since 2012, Make the Season Kind has raised more than $73 million dollars.

Meanwhile, Radio-Canada led numerous initiatives and fundraisers across Canada, bringing in nearly $1 million. Radio-Canada also returned as a lead partner for the Media Food Drive in Quebec, which marked its 25th anniversary by raising a record $5.6 million. The drive brought together 100 media outlets in the province to ensure that those in need could celebrate the holidays with dignity.

“Once again, Canadians across the country mobilized in order to help people in need in their local communities. The holidays are a time to come together, and CBC/Radio-Canada is pleased to support Canadians’ generosity with its holiday fundraising campaigns. Serving communities is at the heart of everything we do.”

– Marie-Philippe Bouchard, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada
