Digital streaming of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games more than triples compared to Beijing 2022

  • Canadians watched 1.63 million streams of Milano Cortina 2026 content on CBC/Radio-Canada digital and streaming platforms, more than triple the number of streams compared to Beijing 2022 (526,000).
  • Time spent streaming Paralympics content on CBC Gem increased over 500 per cent from Beijing 2022.
  • Canadians spent an average of 1.3 million hours each day watching CBC’s Paralympic Winter Games broadcast television coverage, up 166 per cent from Beijing 2022 (473,000 hours). 
  • 10 million viewers in Canada tuned in for the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games over 10 days across CBC and ICI TÉLÉ.

Audiences in Canada consumed 1.63 million streams of Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games content on CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital platforms from March 6 to 15, more than triple the number of streams during Beijing 2022 (526,000), on CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, the CBC News app and the Radio-Canada Info app, and the CBC and Radio-Canada websites dedicated to the Paralympic Winter Games. Ten million viewers in Canada also tuned in to CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of Milano Cortina 2026 across its English and French television networks, CBC and ICI TÉLÉ. 

The Canadian Paralympic Team, composed of 50 athletes including guides, concluded the nine days of competition with 15 medals – three gold, four silver, and eight bronze.

  • Audiences consumed 1.63 million streams of Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games content on CBC/Radio-Canada digital and streaming platforms, more than triple compared to Beijing 2022 (526,000), and over 682,000 hours of Paralympic content. 
  • Time spent streaming Paralympics content on CBC Gem increased 511 per cent from Beijing 2022.
  • 10 million viewers in Canada tuned in for CBC/Radio-Canada's coverage of Milano Cortina 2026 on CBC and ICI TÉLÉ. 
  • Canadians spent an average of 1.3 million hours each day watching CBC’s Milano Cortina 2026 broadcast television coverage, up 166 per cent from Beijing 2022 (473,000 hours). 
  • Over 2.5 million viewers tuned in to the Opening Ceremony presented on March 6 on CBC/Radio-Canada television networks, close to double that of Beijing 2022’s Opening Ceremony (1.3 million). 
  • 2.8 million viewers tuned in to the Closing Ceremony presented on March 15 on CBC/Radio-Canada television networks, more than triple that of Beijing 2022’s Closing Ceremony (900,000).
