Big Imagination, Bigger Adventures: It’s Andrew! is in production for Season 2

CBC, ABC and Screen Australia, in association with Radio-Canada, are thrilled to announce that production is underway on a second season of the beloved animated series It’s Andrew!, bringing more imaginative adventures to preschoolers.

Since its June launch, It's Andrew! has already clocked up more than 20 million viewing minutes on ABC iview alone, with more Season 1 episodes still to come next year.

The series follows Andrew, a young rhinoceros adopted by a unicorn family, who lives high above the clouds in the magical world of Hornsby Downs. Andrew embraces his unique identity with joy and confidence. While he may not share the same magical abilities as his family and friends, Andrew possesses a remarkable kind of magic all his own: his creativity and a big imagination, which help him turn adversity into adventure and problems into possibilities.

Season 2 will see Andrew return alongside his little corn friends, his mum Dasha, his grandfather Captain Wonderful and his teacher Ms Horn.

Marie McCann, Senior Director of Children’s Content, CBC Kids, said, “Highlighting the importance of kindness and inclusion, the first season of It's Andrew! resonated with young audiences around the world. We're excited to welcome Canadian families back to Hornsby Downs for another season of fun, as Andrew the rhino and his unicorn friends celebrate friendship, imagination and the power that comes from being true to yourself.”

ABC Head of Children & Family, Melinda Wearne said, “We're delighted to welcome Andrew back to ABC Kids for a second season. This original series explores themes of belonging, confidence and self-discovery with warmth, humour and heart.”

Pirate Size Productions Co-Creators Dan Nixon and Alyssa Smedley said, “We’re thrilled It’s Andrew! is going into production on Season 2.  Following a wonderful response to Season 1, we’re excited to be heading back to Hornsby Downs for more adventures with Mainframe Studios and Infinite Studios, as well as ABC, CBC and Radio Canada.  Shows like It’s Andrew! matter now more than ever.  Preschoolers need warm and relatable stories that help them make sense of their world.  We can’t wait for kids to keep discovering It’s Andrew! and exploring the Hornsby Downs world.”

Screen Australia Director of Narrative Content Louise Gough said, “The success of It's Andrew demonstrates the power of children’s stories that genuinely connect with young audiences. Through Andrew’s optimism, creativity and self-confidence, the series encourages children to embrace what makes them unique. We congratulate the creative team on creating such a joyful and imaginative series and look forward to seeing Andrew’s adventures continue in Season 2.”

Christiane Asselin, Executive director, Streaming Services, Youth Programming and Digital Sports, Radio-Canada said, “It's Andrew! perfectly captures our values of inclusiveness and open-mindedness. Season 2 will continue to spark toddlers’ creativity and foster their emotional intelligence through stories that celebrate what makes everyone unique. This success is also a testament to the incredible partnership between Australia and Canada in delivering high-quality, inspiring programming to young audiences.”

Season 2 premieres in Canada on CBC TV and CBC Gem in 2027. Season 1 is available to stream now for free on CBC Gem. Season 2 of It’s Andrew! will be available in French in 2028 on Radio-Canada platforms.
