CBC’s winning streak continued at The Academy of Canadian Film & Television’s Canadian Screen Awards second gala event, where the public broadcaster
received another 23 awards - more than any other broadcaster. The evening honoured excellence in drama, comedy, variety, children’s, performing arts and
digital media. The hugely successful CBC original production, The Book of Negroes led the way at last night’s awards, taking home
a total of 10 wins - nine for television and one for digital media. CBC original hit comedy Schitt’s Creek secured six television
awards, including a trophy for co-creator and star Daniel Levy in the Best Writing in a Comedy Program or Seriescategory.
CBC was also recognized for Canadian favourite Rick Mercer Report, the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Opening Ceremony, compelling spy thriller X Company and the Stratford Festival production of King Lear. The evening included a special nod to the
team of This Hour Has 22 Minutes as they were presented with the Academy Icon Award, announced last fall.

received awards for Best Direction in a Dramatic Program or Limited Series and Best Writing in a Dramatic Program or Series. Stars of the series were
recognized for their talent, taking home Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Limited Series (Lyriq Bent), Best
