Hey Rosetta!
Over the near decade playing together, Hey Rosetta!‘s collective sound has been lauded as unmistakable. The band has been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, received a JUNO nomination, and been defined as one of the most poetic Canadian exports. The band’s indie-rock precision and hooky pop sensibilities are offset by the delicate touch of cello, violin (and now french horn), and cut through the most cramped club or across any vast open-air festival stage.
Tanya Tagaq
Maestro
Maestro is a rapper, producer, actor, author and motivational speaker. His pioneering status and outstanding achievements have led to him being referred to as the “Godfather of Canadian Hip-Hop”. Maestro is a winner of two Juno Awards and nominated thirteen times. He won the first-ever Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 1991.
Zaki Ibrahim
Canadian-born, South African singer-songwriter Zaki Ibrahim’s last studio project was titled Every Opposite, which was short-listed for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. She previously released two EPs, Sho (Iqra in Orange) and Eclectica (Episodes in Purple). The later EP received a 2009 JUNO Award nomination for her single “Money.” Past musical collaborations included Spoek Mathambo, King Britt and Boddhi Satva.
Charlotte Cardin
Model by day and singer-songwriter by night, this 20-year-old Montreal gem has recently gone from full-time student to round the clock musician. The public discovered the naturally adept singer with strong technique when she appeared on the Quebec reality television competition La Voix. Although Charlotte drew several offers from well-established labels, she decided to go with the freshly ingrained independent agency Cult Nation, home of emerging indie and electronic acts Dear Frederic, Iris and Heartfelt.
Rich Terfry
Rich Terfry, host of Radio 2 Drive is from Mt. Uniacke, N.S. He has worked as a gas station attendant, a night watchman, a towel-boy at a luxury resort and holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in biology. Terfry has lived in Halifax, Montreal, New York, London and Paris, and now sleeps on a cot in the Radio 2 Drive studio. His interests include, but are not limited to - cinema, pets, invention, baseball and stories about dumb criminals.
